Some of the administrators talk down to the kids, and the regulations regarding uniform border on institutional. The thing that got me the most is the thing that was said regarding the 2. One administrator admitted it is Mediocrity, and also said that if they did not live up to the behavior standards they could go to those "other schools" In my mind threatening and talking down to kids while holding them to low standards does nothing to improve the deplorable situation MOST schools in EBR find themselves in.

He is right about one thing, though.. Yep, they can go to other schools. So my advice is to find ONE for your kids.. This is not a place that empowers kids. It just squashes them down. Truly sad. Parent Review 7y ago. Woodlawn Elementary School. I'm very upset with the transportation. On her first day of school the card in the mail said We were out the at the exact moment we were supposed to be but the bus never showed..

Later I find out the bus was 20 minutes early!! I sat in the insane carpool line for 45 minutes because the bus was early. A bus should never be early!! The second day of school I was out there for 20 minutes early then I get a phone call from the bus driver saying the bus broke down. So I left to sit in that horrendous car pool line for another 45 minutes! Then I find out that the bus never broke down at all and he was only gonna be 10 minutes late!

I am a single mother of two that has to work to provide for my kids. When I have to plan to get my daughter on the bus at a certain time to get my 2 year old to daycare.

Woodlawn High School has a new principal this year and there has been a bit of staff turn over. I have a child in Gifted and one in "General Population". The Gifted children get a superior education. The General Population kids get bo-diddly squat.

Some of the teachers are good but when you are fighting apathetic parents, an ineffective district administration and inane expectations regarding being rated on how well your students pass the tests, well That said, I have high hopes that the new principal will change things up for the better.

If you are thinking of moving to the BR area and believe the hype that Ascension schools are better - that is false. We attended Ascension schools - primary, middle, and high - and they were far worse than the Woodlawn trio. Parent Review 8y ago. Woodlawn Middle School. I recently moved here from another state and fought to get my daughter in the great scholars program. We live in the neighborhood, and wanted to insure she got the best chance possible.

After orientation today, I am not sure this is a good choice. Some of the administrators talk down to the kids, and the regulations regarding uniform border on institutional. The thing that got me the most is the thing that was said regarding the 2.
