Before you say it, yes you can stop the automatic part, but many users do not have the knowledge, ability or desire to screen their drivers and just trust Microsoft. Microsoft owns this one. Of course it was a disaster. My system would hang on reboot with the Start Icon and the little circle of dots going around and around and around. I tried the F8 recovery to no avail. I wasn't sure which driver was causing the hang so I reinstalled again and changed a few things, ran the update including options and presto another hang It took me 5 installs and updates before I didn't select the options
