These errors in the event log were related to the Windows Process Activation Service a. Uninstalling the WSUS role made these errors go away, but reinstalling the role made them come back again that's how I knew they were caused by WSUS and not from other web services on this server.

This is a security update for WU itself. If any of your clients updated directly from Microsoft, they will have this update already and will be unable to communicate with your WSUS server checking for updates from Microsoft on the WSUS server will give you this update if the WSUS role is installed. For some reason, reinstalling the role configured it improperly. From a command prompt, type the following:. I worked on this problem for almost a week and this is what eventually cleared it up.

I hope it helps you. I experienced this issue last week when configuring a WSUS server for the first time on my network. I, too, used R2 virtual instance as the server and all my clients are either servers or Win 7 x64 machines. I deleted the softwaredistribution folder, forced the client to detect and report, used the Microsoft fixit tool, all that garbage. In the end I was left with more than half my hosts still not reporting in ever to the server and none of them able to manually check for updates without getting a bid ol' EE2.

Basically the desktop PC in question would update with a wireless card we installed but when switching to the onboard LAN for updating it kicked up the ee2 error.

This was confirmed by fully updating the system wirelessly and then removing several successfully installed updates before trying to reinstall them over a LAN connection which failed everytime. We also tried multiple reinstalls on the same PC before trying a new HDD with a copy of windows preinstalled from another machine in the office. This new HDD worked absolutely fine which was confusing so we then went back to the original HDD and did a full format using DBAN and then reinstalled windows and the error disappeared.

Error is ee2. While updating a HyperV guest. Resetting IE corrected the error. That's WAY too hard! I just turned off wireless and plugged into modem with ethernet cable, and its happily installing update 13 of 15 as I type. Office Office Exchange Server. Not an IT pro? Windows Client. Sign in.
