The program is offered in communities around the province and provides funding to promote the exchange and offer incentives to replace old wood stoves. It also delivers education to help people operate their wood-burning appliances efficiently. Over wood-burning stoves have been replaced by cleaner heating appliances since the program began in This is a reduction of approximately tonnes annually of particulate matter released into the air.
There are currently 19 programs being offered in the province, involving several regional districts and municipal partners. The Province and B. Lung Association are currently soliciting proposals from communities that want to participate in the program. For households receiving a free replacement, staff will work directly with you and an approved vendor or installer to prepare for the project.
Washington County pays vendor. Once your project is finished and permitted, program staff will pay your vendor the amount of your rebate. Any additional balance due is paid by the resident.
